Split System Air Conditioning

What size split system do I need?
As a rule of thumb, about 2.5 kW cools a 20 m² bedroom and 7 kW covers a 55 m² living area. Ceiling height, insulation, windows and sun exposure all matter, so we confirm the size when we quote.
Do you supply the unit or can I buy my own?
Both. We supply and install Panasonic, Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu at competitive prices, or we can install a unit you have already bought.
Will the installation affect my warranty?
Only if it is done wrong. Manufacturers require installation by a licensed technician to Australian standards. We hold ARC licence L162322 and install to those standards, so your warranty stays intact.
Can I get a government rebate on a split system?
Often, yes. Replacing an old electric heater or inefficient air conditioner with an approved high-efficiency unit can attract a Victorian Energy Upgrades discount. We check eligibility and handle the paperwork so the discount comes off your invoice.

Multi-Split & Cassette Systems

How many rooms can one outdoor unit serve?
Typically two to five, depending on the brand and the capacity of each indoor unit. We size the outdoor unit so it keeps up when every room is running.
Is a multi-split cheaper than ducted?
Usually yes for two or three rooms, and it avoids roof-space work. For a whole house, ducted is often better value. We quote both when it is a close call.

Ducted Reverse-Cycle Air Conditioning

Can I zone a ducted system?
Yes. Zoning lets you heat or cool selected areas, which lowers running costs. Most homes use two to four zones, for example living, bedrooms and a master suite. We install touchpad zone switches, AirTouch 5 with app control, and Panasonic Conex controllers.
Do you need to see the house before quoting?
For ducted systems, yes. The roof space, floor plan and outdoor unit position all affect the design, so we do a free site visit and give you a written quote.
Do you replace the old ducting when you change over from gas?
Yes, as standard. Old ducting comes out of the roof space and new R1.5-rated flexible duct goes in, strapped and sealed. Reusing tired, poorly insulated duct is the most common reason a new system underperforms.
What is a safety drain tray and do I need one?
It is a secondary tray under the indoor unit with its own drain line. If the main drain blocks, it stops water coming through your ceiling. We fit one on every ducted installation.
Will I need a switchboard upgrade?
Sometimes. Older boards with ceramic fuses often cannot safely take the extra circuit. We check the switchboard at the site visit and include a compliant upgrade in the quote if it is needed.
Is there a rebate for replacing ducted gas heating?
Replacing a ducted gas heater with an approved reverse-cycle system is one of the biggest Victorian Energy Upgrades discounts available. Note the co-payment rules change on 30 September 2026. See our rebates page.

New Builds & Builder Rough-Ins

When should the air conditioning be roughed in?
After the frame is up and before plaster. That is when pipe runs, drains and duct routes can be concealed properly. Tell us your frame date and we book the rough-in around it.
Do you supply the units for a builder package?
Yes. We supply Panasonic, Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin or Fujitsu to suit the specification and budget, or install owner-supplied units.

Commercial Air Conditioning

How often should commercial air conditioning be serviced?
Quarterly for hospitality and high-use sites, twice a year for most offices and shops. Dirty coils can cut capacity by a third and shorten compressor life.

Heat Pump Hot Water

How much can I save with a heat pump hot water system?
Panasonic quotes up to 70% lower running costs than a conventional electric storage tank. Real savings depend on how much hot water you use and whether you have solar, but a family of four on an old electric tank typically saves several hundred dollars a year.
Are there government rebates for heat pump hot water?
Yes. Victorian Energy Upgrades discounts apply to approved heat pump systems replacing electric or gas tanks, and Solar Victoria offers a hot water rebate for eligible households. We check what you qualify for and lodge the paperwork.
Does it work on cold mornings?
The Panasonic CO₂ range is rated to operate down to about −10 °C, well below anything Melbourne sees. CO₂ refrigerant is particularly good at high water temperatures in cold air.
Which tank size do I need?
As a guide, 250 L suits one to three people, 315 L three to four, and 400 L larger households or homes with spa baths. We confirm on quote.

Air Conditioning Service, Repairs & Ducted Inspections

How often should I service my air conditioner?
Once a year is right for most homes. Systems in dusty areas or running daily benefit from a six-monthly filter clean between services.
Some rooms on my ducted system never get cool. Can you find out why?
Yes. A ducted inspection measures airflow at every outlet and checks the ducts, dampers and return in the roof space, then gives you a written report with the fixes in order of value. Often it is a crushed duct or an unbalanced zone rather than the unit.
My outdoor unit is filthy. Is it worth cleaning or should I replace it?
Usually worth cleaning. A blocked coil can cut capacity by a third, so a proper clean often brings an older unit back to life. If the compressor or refrigerant circuit has failed we will tell you honestly and quote a replacement, with any rebates included.
